Our Story

Warning signs, especially in the last decade, such as heatwaves, the rapid rate of ozone depletion, bushfires, earthquakes, droughts, and tsunamis, were enough stimulus for us to start working to secure our environment and minimize unforeseen horrors.Forengers was founded by Neil Gokhale. We began our endeavor by organizing plantation drives, during which we carried out tree plantations, tended to them, and undertook the necessary steps for their maintenance. After the overwhelming success of our plantation drives, we took it upon ourselves to organize cleanliness drives. These drives focus on cleaning a particular area saturated with waste, undertaken by vigilant group members using proper equipment and sanitation.Initially, Forengers began working in the Kothrud area, hence it was established as the first zone by Neil Gokhale. Soon, Forengers grew and expanded into three more Zones: Sahakar Nagar, Hadapsar, and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The initiative to form these zones was taken by Neil Gokhale along with Mihika Kulkarni in the Sahakar Nagar area, Audumbar Dravid in the Hadapsar area, and Preetha Jawahar in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, respectively.Amidst the challenges of lockdowns, individuals embraced activities like micro-farming and bird feeder projects within the confines of their homes. These initiatives not only promoted environmental stewardship but also fostered community engagement despite the constraints of social distancing measures.Furthermore, unique activities like composting and participation in initiatives such as Zero Hour were also facilitated. Composting, a sustainable practice, involves recycling organic waste into nutrient-rich soil, reducing landfill waste, and promoting ecological balance. Zero Hour, a youth-led movement, empowers young individuals to advocate for climate action and raise awareness about urgent environmental issues.Together, let us cultivate these seeds of progress, watering them with hope and determination, as we sow the fields of a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow for the generations that follow.

Plantation Drives

At Plantation Drives, we're dedicated to engaging India's youth in environmental conservation through tree planting. With 60+ drives and 1500+ saplings planted, our strategy involves careful planning and teamwork. We start by selecting locations and securing permissions, then move to detailed planning and execution. Teams are briefed on specifics before each drive, ensuring smooth operations and the well-being of each sapling. Regular maintenance and special care for needy plants are part of our commitment. Our goal is a greener future fueled by the proactive efforts of today's youth.Join us in sowing the seeds of change and cultivating a sustainable legacy for generations to come!

Cleanliness Drives

For every kilogram of waste removed, we carve a path towards brighter tomorrow, where communities thrive in the embrace of cleanliness and care. Our primary goal is to clean local areas while prioritizing safety. Equipped with necessary gear like garbage bags, masks, and gloves, our teams meticulously collect waste, ensuring proper disposal of plastic and glass materials. To date, we've removed over 400 kilograms of waste, handing it over to the concerned authorities for responsible management. We emphasize strict safety protocols for all members.Together, lets script a narrative of renewal, one clean-up at a time.

Paper Bag Making Drives

The lingering presence of plastic bags remains a persistent challenge. In response, we've initiated a paper bag project, focusing on innovation and testing to create a simple yet sturdy method for crafting paper bags. After producing thousands of bags, we've distributed them to small-scale vendors, providing eco-friendly alternatives. Join us in our mission to reduce plastic dependency and embrace sustainable solutions.Together, we can make a lasting impact, one paper bag at a time.

Birdfeeder Making

Bird feeders, also known as bird tables or tray feeders, play a vital role in supplying nourishment to birds outdoors. Typically offering seeds like millet, sunflower, safflower, Niger seed, and rapeseed, these feeders provide essential sustenance, particularly during the winter months. While a plethora of bird feeders flood the market, Forengers champions the DIY approach. With just a few everyday household items, you can craft your own feeder, extending a helping hand to our feathered friends in need.

Micro-farming

We engage in micro-farming initiatives, emphasizing the significance and benefits of adopting small-scale, handcrafted agricultural practices within home environments. This innovative approach allows individuals to meticulously manage essential growing conditions such as lighting and humidity, making it particularly suitable for cultivating herbs and microgreens indoors. Pioneered by the Forengers research team, this trend has gained momentum, with an increasing number of people incorporating micro-farming into their daily lives.Let us unite in nurturing these seeds of transformation, cultivating a future that shines with sustainability, ensuring prosperity for generations ahead.

Composting

Composting, an ancient practice, entails the breakdown of organic waste into nutrient rich soil. Contrary to common belief, composting is accessible to everyone and offers a sustainable solution for recycling household organic waste such as vegetable peels and stalks, enriching soil fertility in the process. Forengers has actively encouraged its members to compost at home, especially during the pandemic. This simple yet effective method not only reduces waste but also fosters environmental sustainability. All you need is an earthen pot and kitchen waste to get started on your composting journey!

Zero Hour

Inspired by Earth Hour, a global movement spearheaded by WWF to address environmental concerns, Zero Hour is our initiative to take action and protect the planet. While Earth Hour encourages a yearly lights-out event, Zero Hour aims to deepen our commitment by turning off lights for one hour on frequent basis. The essence of Zero Hour lies in awakening individuals to the magnitude of electric energy consumption in our daily lives. By symbolically dimming our lights, we invite reflection on our collective responsibility towards nature and the planet. Join us in embracing Zero Hour as a testament to our dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable living.Together, let's illuminate a path towards a brighter, more sustainable future.
